Google’s Android Wear Smartwatches


Google has announced Android Wear, a version of its mobile operating system tailored for smartwatches and other wearable devices. Instead of just adding phonelike features to your wrist, Android Wear will focus on notifications and quick responses. The idea is to show information as you need it while keeping interaction to a minimum. So while you’d still take out your phone to read through Facebook or write an email, you could use a smartwatch to check on a to-do list, view directions or scan your boarding pass at the airport.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore 42mm Collection


Audemars Piguet first introduced the 42mm Royal Oak Offshore back in 1993, but for 2014 the collection has received a major overhaul. There are six new models that will be replacing the current line-up in April 2014, and here we have hands-on photos of all six. They have a more refined feel all around, with a number of new details and changes to the cases and dials, included long-awaited sapphire case backs. Hitting retailers as early as April of this year, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore 42mm wristwatch will be available in steel or rose gold with prices ranging from $25,600 USD to $69,200 USD.

Refined Hardware Robber Baron Watch


Los Angeles-based watchmakers Refined Hardware introduce its latest addition to their American steel watch made with Swiss’s elegant machinery. The limited edition watch is powered by a 6-jewel, electro-mechanical ISA Swiss 238/101 movement in a gold finish, with a 40-month power reserve. It’s housed in a 316L hardened stainless steel case with a 2mm-thick pure sapphire crystal lens. Its dial features a guilloche engraved bezel and is attached with a form-fitting, deployant aerospace-grade steel mesh band. The watch is limited to 500 pieces and comes with its collector’s number engraved, a hand-laid carbon fiber box, and a personalized manual.
