An innovative remake that stays true to the unique heritage of the Air Force 1, yet catapults it into a new era of relevance, the shoe was redesigned from the inside out and from the ground up. Nike replaced the midsole’s heel Air unit — itself a radical innovation in 1982 — with springy Lunarlon foam and a heel Zoom Air unit, enhancing comfort and flexibility while also reducing weight.
