Sneakers hanging on telephone lines have become a powerful urban symbol, inspiring genesis theories both hilarious and sinister. In an effort to get to the truth once and for all, director Matthew Bate asked the public to help solve this mystery. Using an on-line call out and a phone message bank, this documentary was made entirely from donated photographs, phoned-in theories, video, vlogs, and animation. The Mystery of Flying Kicks is the result of a unique digital collaboration between the filmmakers and the international public.

Duo Take Nike’s money and Use it to Travel the World


Having a bad day? We’ve got the cure: It’s filmmaker Casey Neistat‘s four-and-a-half-minute ode to joy — or at least the joys of traveling around the world on a 10-day adventure, with the bill footed by Nike. Neistat landed a plum gig promoting Nike’s new FuelBand; he then dedicated his entire budget to an impromptu world tour with his buddy Max. Interspersed between footage from New York, Paris, Johannesburg and beyond are motivational nuggets from our favorite presidents/freedom fighters/actresses (Abraham Lincoln, Gandhi and Marilyn Monroe, respectively.) Young Man Dies after Air Jordan XI Retro Concord Release


Reports have come up that police had to shut down several malls in Austin and Seattle and had to use pepper spray to keep the crowd in order. There is even a report of a young man dying after being stabbed over the shoes in Washington, D.C. In Richmond, California the shoe sales were canceled at Hilltop Mall after shots were fired into the air. News report on the stories follow after the JUMP.

Louis Vuitton Sues Artist Nadia Plesner, Again!

Dutch artist Nadia Plesner got in hot water with Louis Vuitton in 2008 for depicting an African child with one of its high-end bags on one arm and a chihuahua in the other (below) as part of her campaign urging divestment from Sudan over the conflict in Darfur. Now the company is suing her again: this time, the luxury goods company has filed a copyright infringement suit at The Hague that will penalize her 5,000 Euros for each day a likeness of its Audra bag in her paintingDarfurnica remains on her website. The company has been tallying her penalty since Jan. 28.
